Question: Is poker a better than cricket's ashes test matches?
(Posted by: Pegasus Rising on 2009-07-10 07:04:17)
Shane Warne made sure that he'll not miss the World Series poker tournament Las Vegas, and he was supposed to be commentating for Skysports during the Ashes matches. And third day into the first Ashes Test, Warne is not to be seen, while his parents are there to watch the match. http:/ / www.cricinfo.com/ engvaus2009/ content/ story/ 413652.html What do you think about the 'Sheikh of Tweak' giving more importance to the million bucks from the Poker tournament than Australia's traditional rivalry with England, dubbed 'the Ashes'? |

And you wouldn't? A million bucks (US) is a million bucks. |

Shane Warne is a Poker player. Till IPL started, that is what he was doing. We heard, he left the World Series poker tournament half way to Captain the Rajasthan Royal against Middlesex. They won the match too. So now he is back. Even after IPL 1, he went straight to Las Vegas for Poker. Had seen his interview on TV. |

I heard the commentators saying he will be in for the 1st Test match but a man has got his priorities. |

He actually competes in the World Poker Tour, while in the Ashes he's now only a spectator. He can't be everywhere at once. |

Mate I'd take a million bucks over an Ashes match and I would not be the only one. |

Shane Warne is sponsored by 888 poker and part of his contract is to attend WPT events. I would think that his contract to them would be worth more than his commentating and would probably work out better in the long term financially. |
